Southern Ontario"
As all
Canadian's are aware, we have had a horrific week in Ontario.
The news concerning Tori Stafford was absolutely heart breaking.
I couldn't stop crying as I listened to her father's gut
wrenching interview on CBC. Please say a prayer tonight;
our hearts go out to her friends and family.
Somewhat overlooked in all the RAGE
and SORROW from Woodstock were two other stories that parents
should also be aware of, so they can talk to their children and
maybe save their lives.
In Big Bay, Ontario, a 51 year old
man was very popular with local teens because he allowed them to
party on his property. For the last few years it has become
"the" place to go if you were under age and wanted to drink or
do drugs. This last weekend, after administering alcohol,
morphine tablets and marijuana to two underage girls, one 16 the
other 15, the party is over. The 16 year old girl died of a
overdose. The 15 year old is in hospital. Ronald Smith, 51 years
of age is charged with criminal negligence causing death, 4
counts of trafficking, committing sexual assault and sexual
interference, on the two underage girls. More charges are
pending.
Once
again, instances like this can be prevented.
A 40
year old man in Toronto is under arrest and a 15 year old girl
is in protective custody after police infiltrated a prostitution
ring. Members of the Drugs and Vice Unit were told the teen was
being forced to work as a prostitute by the male suspect.
Investigators reported the girl was held in two different
locations before they could locate her. Renan Esahak has been
charged with 11 different counts including , procuring a person
to leave usual place of abode, knowingly concealing a person at
a common bawdy house, exercising control, direction or
influence.
Again,
instances like this can be prevented.
* Please,
Please, Please ! Tell your children to never go with someone who
wants to pick them up, unless they know the "secret code word".
Not a Aunt, Uncle, family friend, Grand- Parent or anyone else
in the world unless they know and say "the secret code word"!
* Tell your
daughters and your sons, that a 51 year old man, or for that
matter anyone, who supplies drugs and alcohol for free REALLY
WANTS SOMETHING from you and your not in a safe place. Even if
you bring along your best friend, your not safe! A 51 year man,
or anyone, giving underage kids a place to party is wrong. IT'S
NOT NORMAL!
* Tell your
daughters and sons, that a normal, responsible adult would not
encourage you to run away from home. If you runaway, you could
end up being forced into prostitution or worse.
* Problems
at home? Talk to your Doctor, Teacher, Policeman, Dentist, Best
Friends Parents or anyone else you trust, just pick up a phone,
don't put on your shoe's.
I hope
we have a better week, and my prayers go out to all the families
who have endured the unthinkable.
